What are the differences between JPEG and PNG files?
JPEG and PNG files have several differences. The JPEG file offers adjustable lossy compression while PNG compression is lossless. In compression mode, the JPEG file size is very small, while the PNG file size is very small. Offering more than 16.7 million colors like the JPEG file, the PNG file differs in that the color depths are much smaller when the file sizes are small.
The JPEG file offers a progressive display unlike the PNG file. No transparency for the JPEG file, which is not the case with PNG which offers transparency with the alpha channel. The rendering of the JPEG file performs a cut and a rotation of 90° while the PNG file does not perform any loss on its rendering. The automatic backups on cell phones are done in JPEG for photos and in PNG for screenshots.
