The passport
Etymologically, the word passport comes from "pass" and "port". It originally referred to the free movement of goods before being applied to men from 1464. Today, this document is issued by the state authorities of a country and is used to prove the identity and nationality of a person who is about to travel to a foreign nation. To enter certain countries such as Italy, Slovenia, you are required to fill out a Passenger locator form online or in person. In France, it is generally at the level of the town halls that you must file your passport application.
In some cities, there are also counters equipped with a registration station to record your application. The validity period of a passport is 10 years for an adult and 5 years for a minor.
The Visa
A visa is a document issued by the authorities of a country to allow a foreign national to enter its territory for a specified period of time. Some countries require it while others are satisfied with a valid passport, which is why you should find out beforehand about the entry formalities of the country where you plan to go.
The vaccination booklet
Before you pack your suitcase, check to see if your vaccination record is up to date. Regardless of your destination, it is recommended that your pertussis and tuberculosis (BCG), measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR), and diphtheria, tetanus, and polio (DTP) vaccinations are up to date. In South America, vaccinations against yellow fever, hepatitis A and B and rabies are particularly recommended to avoid any risk.
